What to Do When Your Air Conditioning Goes Out?

The hot weather is here, and nothing can be more uncomfortable than when the air conditioning goes out in your Fultondale, Alabama home. The good news is there are ways to keep your home cool while waiting for your HVAC specialist to arrive to address your problem. If you find yourself without A/C, try the tips below to help keep your home comfortable.

Bring On the Fans

If you have ceiling fans, get them going as soon as you can, and bring in any floor or table fans you might have, as well. If it is a particularly warm day, you can fill a plastic tub with some ice and place it in front of one of your fans to create a makeshift air conditioner.

Draw the Shades, Curtain, Blinds

If your air conditioning has gone out during the day, you will want to close all of your blinds or shades that may cover them. This will help block the warm rays of the sun that can quickly raise the temperature of your home. When evening comes, if you have a nice breeze you can then open your windows as long as the sun is setting.

Make Some Cool Drinks

Staying hydrated is vital when you are hot, and a cold drink can also help you to cool down your body temperature while staving off thirst. Just remember when the a/c is out, the colder the drinks the better, so be sure to load up on ice.

Turn On Your Dehumidifier

During the summer months, one of the biggest problems is the humidity in the air. If your unit goes out, crank up the dehumidifier, if you have one, to help pull some of the moisture out of the air to keep the temperatures in the room more comfortable.

If you find yourself without air conditioning, call the HVAC specialists at One Source Heating, Cooling & Electrical at (205) 509-1929 to address your needs quickly, and get your air conditioning unit back up and running as soon as possible.
